Overview of Stamping
Stamping, also referred to as pressing, is a manufacturing technique that involves shaping flat sheet metal into a desired form using a tool and die surface. This process encompasses various sheet-metal forming methods, including punching, blanking, embossing, bending, flanging, and coining. Stamping can be a single-stage operation or involve multiple stages to achieve the desired form. While sheet metal is commonly used in stamping, other materials like polystyrene can also be utilized. Progressive dies are frequently employed in stamping, which involves feeding a coil of steel through a straightener and into a feeder that moves the material into the press and die at a predetermined speed.
